Rain LIVE Updates 2023: Hello and welcome to ABP Live's Moonsoon 2023 LIVE blog. Please follow this space for all the news and latest updates regarding the downpour across various parts of the country. Large parts of India continue to battle flood and waterlogging issues as rain continues to lash the states of Maharashtra, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Odisha, Gujarat, and Delhi. Huge loss of lives and damage to property have been reported with several instances of landslides and rockslides.
The Yamuna river in Delhi was overflowing at 206.56 metres at 7 am on Monday (July 24), reported Central Water Commission. Following this rise, Northern Railway suspended the working of the old Yamuna bridge (Old Loha Pul) at 10:15 pm on Sunday. The statement added that the train movement will be diverted via New Delhi. The route between Delhi and Shahdara was suspended.
Kerala has also been facing incessant for days. India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an 'Orange' alert for several districts in the state following which educational institutes in Kannur, Kozhikode and Wayanad districts for Monday.
Meanwhile, the National Disaster Response Force has finally called off its search and rescue operation in Wednesday's landslide in Irshalwadi in Maharashtra's Raigad district, state minister Uday Samant said on Sunday. Addressing a press conference, Samant, who is the guardian minister of Raigad, said the decision was taken in consultation with the district administration and other concerned authorities as well as local residents. So far, 27 bodies have been recovered while 57 are untraceable, officials said, adding that no bodies were found from the debris on Sunday. These include 12 men, 10 women and four children, while one corpse has not been identified as yet, they added.
Uttarakhand continues to battle floods. CM Pushkar Singh Dhami on the flood situation in Uttarakhand, said, "...Uttarakhand is witnessing floods & natural calamity. I have already apprised the PM and the Home Minister regarding all this, state government will provide all possible help to the people..."
Gujarat has also been facing a flood-like situation for the past few days. Ahmedabad Airport was flooded on Saturday night and passengers had a hard time commuting as some even got late for their flights.
