'Rahul Sharif Or Rahul Munir': BJP Slams RaGa's 'Narender... Surrendered' Remark

The BJP criticised Congress MP Rahul Gandhi for his "Narendra surrender" remark, calling it an insult to the Indian armed forces.

The Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday slammed Congress MP Rahul Gandhi over his 'Narendra surrender' saying it was an insult to India's armed forces. "With such statements, he is insulting the army," said BJP leader Sudhanshu Trivedi addressing a press conference.

"...for the first time, Rahul Gandhi has said something which even the Army Chief of Pakistan has not said, nor has any terrorist organisation of Pakistan. Even Masood Azhar or Hafiz Saeed have not said such a thing," he said.

"None of them said that India surrendered... I want to ask Rahul Gandhi- Does he want to get one step ahead of these people? Trivedi questioned.

"Till now, he was giving cover fire to the people of Pakistan, the Pakistani army and terrorist organisations. Is he trying to become their leader now?," said the BJP leader.

'Rahul Sharif Or Rahuk Munir?'

Calling Gandhi's remark as "immature", Trivedi reminded Gandhi that last year on June 4 results of the Lok Sabha elections were announced where he feaced defeat for the consecutive third time.

"Today is 4th June, when the election results were announced and for the third time you were calling your failure a success. With this you have insulted the army," he said.

"Should we call them Rahul Sharif or Rahul Munir," he asked, adding, "You are speaking in favour of Pakistan more than Shahbaz Sharif and Asif Munir. Because they themselves have accepted that India attacked."

'Surrender To Terrorism'

Further attacking Gandhi and the Congress party, Trivedi referred to the Congress MP's remark from last year to explain the meaning of surrender.

"Rahul Gandhi, if you want to understand the meaning of surrender, then remember when you went abroad two years ago, you said why the defenders of democracy America and Europe are silent and not interfering in India. That was surrender," said the BJP leader.

"After the 26/11 terrorist attack, your government said in Sharm-el-Sheikh that the composite dialogue would not be affected by terrorist attacks. This was a surrender to terrorist mentality... There were 93 thousand prisoners of war in 1971. Still, why did you surrender POK?... Rahul Gandhi, the calendar of independent India is full of your, your party's, and your family's surrenders... India cannot surrender to anyone. We are the only civilisation in the world which exists even after thousands of years of attack, and you are not ready to accept this...," he added.
