‘Rahul Gandhi Must Apologise,’ Uproar In Parliament Over ‘Rape In India’ Remark
Female BJP legislators launched a scathing attack at Rahul Gandhi over his 'rape in India' remark.
New Delhi: The Parliament witnessed a massive uproar on Friday, as female BJP legislators in Lok Sabha condemned Congress party in unison, for its leader Rahul Gandhi’s recent ‘rape in India’ remark during an election rally.
All the female MPs of the BJP, present in the House, demanded an apology from the Congress leader, dubbing his statement as shameful and offensive for the entire country.
Amid all the commotion, the proceeding of the house had to be adjourned till 12pm.
Union Minister Smriti Irani tore into Gandhi and said: “This is the first time in history that a leader is giving a clarion call that Indian women should be raped. Is this Rahul Gandhi's message to the people of the country?”
BJP MP Locket Chatterjee also slammed Gandhi over his remark. “Modi ji said 'Make in India' but Rahul ji said 'rape in India', he is welcoming everybody that come and rape us..this is an insult to Indian women and to Bharat Mata,” she said.

Meanwhile few MPs in Rajya Sabha also raised slogans of 'Rahul Gandhi maafi maango' over Rahul Gandhi's 'rape in India' remark.
Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu said, "you cannot take the name of a person who is not a member of this House. No body has the business to disturb the House".
Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha both had to be adjourned till 12 pm after uproar over Rahul Gandhi's 'Rape in India' remark.
Gandhi had said during an election rally in Jharkhand, that the Prime Minister had launched 'Make in India' but nowadays it is 'Rape in India'.
"Narendra Modi had said 'Make in India' but nowadays wherever you look, it is 'Rape in India'. In Uttar Pradesh Narendra Modi's MLA raped a woman, then she met with an accident but Narendra Modi did not utter a word," alleged Gandhi speaking at a public rally in Godda on Thursday.
