Punjab: No promise made of making Navjot Singh Sidhu deputy CM, says Amarinder Singh

New Delhi: Politics in poll-bound Punjab state is getting hotter day by day. Congress' CM candidate Captain Amarinder Singh has clarified that no such promise is made that Navjot Singh Sidhu will be made deputy CM of the state, in case the party comes to power. Sidhu will be Congress' candidate from Amritsar East and is set to formally join the party on January 9. In an exclusive interview to ABP News channel, Captain also alleged that to take revenge of defeat in the election from Amritsar, Arun Jaitley dragged his name in Swiss account case. It may be recalled that during 2014 General Elections, in a major setback to the Bharatiya Janata party, senior party leader Arun Jaitley was defeated by Congress's candidate Captain Amarinder Singh in Punjab. This was the first time that now Finance Minister Jaitley had contested the Lok Sabha elections. Recently Congress leader Dr Navjot Kaur Sidhu confirmed that her husband and former BJP MP Navjot Singh Sidhu will contest the assembly polls from Amritsar East constituency. Sidhu a three-time MP from Amritsar was adjusted in the Rajya Sabha by the BJP after Arun Jaitley was given a ticket in 2014 Lok Sabha elections. But unhappy with not getting a larger role in Punjab, Sidhu quit the party and resigned from Rajya Sabha.
