Pakistani Intruder Shot Dead By BSF Along Border In Punjab's Tarn Taran District

The BSF official said soldiers noticed suspicious movement in the morning in Thekalan village in Punjab's Tarn Taran district and confronted the intruder.

A Pakistani intruder was shot dead along the border in Thekalan village in Punjab's Tarn Taran district on Friday, a BSF official told ANI. The BSF official said soldiers noticed suspicious movement in the morning and confronted the intruder. However, he continued to move ahead.

"Today on August 11, during morning hours, Border Security Force (BSF) troops observed suspicious movement of a Pakistani miscreant/intruder ahead of Border fencing, in the area falling near bordering Village Thekalan under District Taran Taran," PRO, Punjab Frontier of BSF, told ANI.

"Troops challenged him, but he did not stop and continued moving ahead. Sensing imminent threat and to stop further misadventure, BSF troops fired upon the miscreant in self-defence, killing him on the spot," the official further said.

Earlier this week, another intruder was arrested near the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir by the Army, PTI reported. Later, Army said the intruder was an Afghan national and he had a disability in his leg.

The Afghan national has been identified as Abdul Wahid, believed to be in his early 20's. He was earlier a resident of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), a police official told PTI.

Wahid inadvertently entered India before being caught by Army in Dabi-Basuni village in Balakote sector on Monday.

"Wahid was handed over to police late Tuesday night and he is an Afghan national. His questioning is going on to ascertain the motive behind his intruding into this side," the police official told PTI.

Except some Pakistani currency notes, nothing incriminating was recovered from his possession, officials said.

Earlier this month, an infiltration bid on the Line of Control (LoC) in J&K’s Kupwara district was foiled by the Army. One militant was killed during exchange of gunfire. Incriminating materials, arms and ammunition was recovered from the slain militant, IANS reported.
