Prophet Remark Row: Kolkata Police Issue Look Out Notice Against Nupur Sharma For Skipping Summons

"A lookout notice has been issued today after she failed to appear before our officers despite being summoned several times," the police officer said.

A senior officer on Saturday said that the Kolkata Police has issued a lookout notice for suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma after she failed to appear before its sleuths for the fourth time in a row over her controversial remarks against Prophet Mohammad, which sparked widespread violence in parts of West Bengal, news agency PTI reported.

He said she had ignored summonses issued by policemen from the Amherst Street and Narkeldanga police stations.

"A lookout notice has been issued today after she failed to appear before our officers despite being summoned several times," the police officer informed PTI.

He said she was summoned twice by the two police stations.

The officer stated that she was called separately by the Amherst Street and Narkeldanga police stations after FIRs were registered against her last month.

Nupur Sharma had expressed concern about being assaulted if she went to Kolkata and requested four weeks to appear before police personnel.

Maharashtra Chemist Stabbed To Death Over Social Media Post Supporting Nupur Sharma

Earlier, a 54-year-old pharmacist Umesh Prahladrao Kolhe was stabbed to death on June 21 in Amravati for supporting suspended BJP leader Nupur Sharma on social media. A week before two men slashed to death Kanhaiya Lal, a tailor in Rajasthan's Udaipur.

"Kolhe ran a medical store in Amravati city. He had allegedly shared a post on some WhatsApp groups in support of Nupur Sharma for her comments. He even mistakenly shared the post in a WhatsApp group in which some Muslims were also members, including his customers," an official of the City Kotwali police station informed PTI.

The incident happened between 10 p.m. and 10.30 p.m. on June 21, when Kolhe was riding his two-wheeler home after shutting his business, he claimed, adding that his son Sanket (27) and wife Vaishnavi were accompanying him in another car.
