Prashant Kishor Declines Offer To Join Congress, Says Party Needs To Fix ‘Deep-Rooted Structural Problems’

Prashant Kishor was offered a place in the Empowered Action Group 2024, suggested by Sonia Gandhi, for which he has declined the offer.

New Delhi: Poll strategist Prashant Kishor will not be joining Congress after multiple presentations and consultations done between the party and I-PAC founder over the last week.

"I declined the generous offer of Congress to join the party as part of the EAG & take responsibility for the elections," he said via a tweet on Tuesday.

Further elaborating his reason not to be part of Congress' Empowered Action Group 2024, Prashant Kishor said the party needs to fix "deep-rooted" structural problems.

"In my humble opinion, more than me the party needs leadership and collective will to fix the deep-rooted structural problems through transformational reforms," his tweet mentioned.

Earlier, Congress General Secretary Randeep Surjewala informed that Prashant Kishor has declined the offer to join Congress with "defined responsibility" via Twitter.

Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi held a meeting with senior party members, on Monday, to discuss the report on the proposals made by Prashant Kishor and his possible entry into the party.

While other details were not divulged after hectic discussions ahead of the planned 'Chintin Shivir', it was announced a panel will be set up to suggest the roadmap for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Apparently, Prashant Kishor was offered a place in the Empowered Action Group 2024, suggested by Sonia Gandhi, for which he has declined the offer.

Congress is yet to announce the name of members of the newly-formed Empowered Action Group 2024.
