Post Haryana Civic Elections Defeat, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar Vows MSP Continuation

"We are committed to the continuation of the MSP (Minimum Support Price) in Haryana. Manohar Lal will quit politics if anyone tries to end the MSP regime," Haryana Chief Minister said.

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, while facing massive agitation from state’s farmers on Thursday announced that he was committed to the continuation of the Minimum Support Price (MSP) and would leave politics if MSP is brought to an end. "We are committed to the continuation of the MSP in Haryana. Manohar Lal will quit politics if anyone tries to end the MSP regime," he said. Haryana CM’s statement comes after Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) suffered loss in the recently concluded civic body elections in the state. BJP lost two seats out of three. The loss can be seen as a reflection of the agitating farmers of Haryana, who are protesting against the three contentious agriculture laws passed by the Centre. Even BJP ally in the state and deputy CM Dushyant Chautala had said that if the MSP will not be insured to the farmers he will resign from his post. The written proposals given by the Central government to the protesting farmers include a provision for MSPs. I’ll work to secure MSP for farmers as long as I am in power. I will resign from my post the day I am unable to fulfil the promise,” Chautala had said. "December 25, 26, 27 were holidays. And you know in December when the year is ending and when there's a bunch of holidays, people tend to go out on long trips. Unfortunately, most of those who went on holiday were people who make the BJP's vote bank," Sanjay Sharma, BJP spokesperson for Haryana, said.
