PM Narendra Modi To Hold Key Meeting With 54 DMs Of 10 States On May 20 To Review COVID Situation

In a move to tackle the Covid situation in the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will directly interact with 54 District Magistrates. More of such meetings are going to take place.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will chair an important series of meetings with District Magistrates of the states and to begin the same, he will interact with 54 DMs of 10 states on May 20.

The meeting scheduled to happen on May 20 at 11 AM will have PM Modi take stock of the COVID situation from these officials.

In a move to tackle the COVID situation in the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will directly interact with 54 District Magistrates of 10 states on May 20.

The states to be part of the first virtual meeting will include Maharashtra, Kerala, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, Chattisgarh, Jharkhand, and Odisha.

As per inputs, the Prime Minister will gradually interact with more officials by holding more of such meetings wherein NITI Aayog members are also likely to be present so that a comprehensive discussion regarding prevention of the Coronavirus spread can take place.

Meanwhile, according to sources, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is likely to write to PM Modi opposing the decision. She is said to be against the move to skip Chief Ministers in this series of meetings by directly interacting with DMs.

However, it must be noted that the Prime Minister recently interacted with state CMs over the pandemic situation while assuring all necessary help from the Centre.

This move comes in as India recorded 3,62,727 new COVID-19 cases, 3,52,181 discharges, and 4,120 deaths in the last 24 hours, as informed by Union Health Ministry.

The fresh surge has taken the total caseload to 2,37,03,665, while total discharges are at 1,97,34,823 and the overall death toll has reached 2,58,317. Active cases are reported to be 37,10,525.
