Mann Ki Baat: PM Modi Dismisses Rumours Related To Covid Vaccine, Requests Villagers Not To Be Hesitant

This Mann ki Baat by the Prime Minister comes after India began the next phase of the largest vaccination drive in the world, in which vaccine is being made available for free across the states and Union territories.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation on his monthly radio programme 'Mann Ki Today' today. PM began the address by urging the people of country to participate in a quiz launched by 'My Gov' app and learn more about India's performance in Olympics.

PM Modi also paid tribute to ace sprinter Milkha Singh and said that his zeal and passion has encouraged people to come forward and take part in Olympics.

"When talking about the Olympics, how can we not remember Milkha Singh Ji. When he was hospitalised, I got a chance to speak to him, I had requested him to motivate the athletes going for Tokyo Olympics", said PM Modi during his Mann Ki Baat address.

PM Modi also spoke about athletes who will be representing India in the upcoming Tokyo Olympics.

"Neha Goyal, member of India's Women's Hockey team. Her mother & sisters work at cycle manufacturing to run the family. Dipika Kumari's journey has also been full of ups & downs. Dipika is the only woman archer to represent India at Tokyo Olympics", said PM Modi.

"Pravin Jadhav of Satara district in Maharastra is an outstanding archer. His parents work as labourers and now Jadhav is going to participate in his first Olympics in Tokyo,"PM said.
 
"Every player going to Tokyo has had one’s own share of struggle, and years of toil. They are going not only for themselves but for the country. Friends, there are numerous such names, but in Mann Ki Baat, today I have been able to mention only a few," said PM Modi.

PM Modi urges villagers to take Covid jab

PM Modi shifted focus to the world's largest vaccination drive being conducted in India and speaks to people who have been influenced by rumours. PM said that he himself have taken both the jabs and having fever or body ache is very normal after vaccination and there is no harm in it. PM urged the people living in villages and rural areas to get vaccinated as soon as possible and contribute to the battle against Covid 19.

"Rumour mongers will keep spreading it but we've to save lives, countrymen. Don't remain under the delusion that COVID19 has got over, it is a kind of disease in which the virus keeps changing its form. We must have confidence in our scientists who developed vaccines", said PM Modi.

This Mann ki Baat by the Prime Minister comes after India began the next phase of the largest vaccination drive in the world, in which vaccine is being made available for free across the states and Union territories. It comes in the midst of preparations for the third wave of coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

"The battle we the countrymen are fighting against corona is continuing…but in this fight, together, we've achieved many an extraordinary milestone! Just a few days ago, our country accomplished an unprecedented feat", PM Modi said.

PM Modi appreciates Doctors and Chartered Accountants

Prime Minister also hailed the doctors and medical workers for their work and efforts while India is battling the Covid wave. PM Modi said that the country will be celebrating World Doctor's day on 1st July and will pay tribute to the lifesavers who were there with us when we were in crisis.

PM also said that India will also celebrate World Chartered Accountant's Day and said that CAs are contributing towards building a strong pillar of India;'s economy.

Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief JP Nadda on Saturday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi's monthly radio programme "Mann Ki Baat" is heard in every household like casual discussions with elders while he also urged the party workers to listen to the programme with co-workers of their booths.
