Kashi Vishwanath Corridor Is A Symbol Of India's Sanatan Dharm: PM Modi | Key Points

He started his speech with the chants of 'Har Har Mahadev' and said, "Kashi is Kashi! Kashi is imperishable.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor today at his parliamentary constituency of Varanasi. The Kashi Vishwanath Corridor will provide the devotees with convenient and easy access from the river Ganga to the Kashi Vishwanath Temple cutting short the time between the two points.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and BJP national president JP Nadda were present during the inauguration.

The Prime Minister addressed the people of Varanasi after inaugurating the grand corridor. He started his speech with the chants of 'Har Har Mahadev' and said, "Kashi is Kashi! Kashi is imperishable. There is only one government in Kashi, those who have damru in their hands have their government."

These are some of the key highlights of PM Modi's speech

  • After the inauguration, PM Modi said that today, a new chapter was being written in the history of Kashi Vishwanath. Kashi Vishwanath Dham premises is not just a grand 'Bhavan' but a symbol of India's 'Sanatan' culture & traditions. PM said that here one can witness how inspirations from the ancient culture are giving direction to the future.
  • PM Modi then expressed his gratitude to every laborer who worked day and night even during the time when the country battled with Covid to construct the grand complex. The labourers did not stop their work during the unprecedented time and completed the project with dedication. PM said, "I have just had the privilege of meeting these labor colleagues and taking their blessings."
  • Speaking about the benefits of the corridor, PM Modi said, "The Kashi Vishwanath temple premise which was only around 3000 square feet, has now become about 5 lakh square feet. Now, 50,000 to 75,000 devotees can come to visit the temple and its premises."
  • Kashi has seen history and its ups and down. So many sultanates came and went away but this place has been here. History has seen the torture of Aurangzeb, who tried to kill culture with radicalism. But in this country an Aurangzeb is matched by a Shivaji.
  • PM Modi also appreciated Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath under whose guidance the project was completed in its scheduled time. He also congratulated the artisans, civil engineers, and families who had their homes there on the successful completion of Kashi Vishwanath Dham Phase 1.
  • PM Modi further said, "The inauguration of Kashi Vishwanath Dham will give a new direction to India, will lead to a brighter future. This complex is a proof of our capability. It shows nothing is impossible if you are determined"

  • He said that when he came to Varanasi to contest elections he had more confidence in the people of the city than in himself. But he said that there were some who doubted the residents here saying "how it will happen", "it doesn't happen like that here." “I was surprised that there were such views about Benaras,” he said. The PM added that the allegations were due to the personal vested interest of some people.
  • PM Modi requested the people of Kashi to take three resolutions on this historic day. He said, " I want three resolutions from you, not for yourself, but for our country - cleanliness, creation and continuous efforts for Atmanirbhar (self-reliant) India
