Mann Ki Baat: PM Modi Talks About Emergency, 'Atrocities Faced By Millions' | Key Points

PM Modi Mann Ki Baat: PM Modi in his address lauded Neeraj Chopra for his recent achievement and conveyed best wishes to cricketer Mithali Raj who announced her retirement this month.

New Delhi: In today's edition of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's monthly radio programme Mann Ki Baat, PM talked about the Emergency that was imposed in the country on June 15, 1975. Asking the youths if they knew that rights of their parents were once "snatched" including right to life and personal liberty. "I want to ask a question to the youth of the country, do you know when your parents were of your age once, even their right to life was snatched? This had happened in the month of June 1975, when an Emergency was imposed," he said.

"During that period, all the rights of the citizens were taken away. Among these rights, was the right to life and personal liberty to citizens guaranteed under article 21 of the Constitution. At that time, attempts were made to crush democracy in India," he added. "Even after many attempts, thousands of arrests, and atrocities on lakhs of people, the faith of the people of India in democracy did not shake… not at all," he said further.

In his radio programme, PM Modi spoke about the space startups in India saying that start ups in the space sector was not common before 2019 but "things have changed and our youth have shown great innovative skills."

"Many big feats related to space sector have been accomplished in our country. One of these achievements has been the creation of an agency named In-Space, an agency that is promoting new opportunities in the space sector for the private sector," he said.

PM Modi lauded Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra's achievement at the Pavo Nurmi game in Finland where he won silver medal and gold medal in Courtroom games. He also wished the best to cricketer Mithali Raj who announced her retirement saying that she is not just an ordinary player but an inspiration to many.
