New Delhi: As the storm brewing in the Arabian Sea intensified into a tropical cyclone Nisarga on Tuesday morning and is likely to make a landfall on Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke  with Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani and administration of Daman Diu, Dadra and Nagar Haveli Praful Patel to take an overview of current preparedness of the states. As per reports, PM Modi has assured all possible help and support from the Central government is order to tackle the situation. As per the Indian Meteorological Department, Cyclone Nisarga will cross the north Maharashtra and south Gujarat coasts on late Wednesday evening. "PM @narendramodi has spoken to CM of Maharashtra Shri Uddhav Thackeray, CM of Gujarat Shri @vijayrupanibjp (Vijay Rupani) and Administrator of Daman Diu, Dadra and Nagar Haveli Shri @prafulkpatel regarding the cyclone situation," the PMO said in a tweet. IMD has stated that a low-pressure area formed over the Arabian Sea has intensified into a depression and will further intensify into a cyclonic storm. Even earlier in the day, PM Modi took stock of the situation in the wake of cyclonic conditions in western India. "Took stock of the situation in the wake of cyclone conditions in parts of India's western coast," he said in a tweet. Meanwhile, as cyclonic storm 'Nisarga' approaches fast, Maharashtra and Gujarat have already activated their disaster response mechanism as they deployed NDRF teams and started evacuating people from vulnerable areas on Tuesday to avoid loss of life. Of the 34 teams, 16 have been deployed in Gujarat, 15 in Maharashtra, two in Daman and Diu, and one in Dadar and Nagar Haveli, NDRF Director-General S.N. Pradhan had informed earlier in the day. Most of the teams had been deployed in coastal districts facing the Arabian Sea. Days after the country's eastern coast was battered by Amphan which wrecked havoc in West Bengal and adjoining areas, cyclone Nisarga started brewing over the Arabian Sea on the western coast. According to the last update by IMD, Nisarga lies as a depression some where around 490 km from Mumbai, 280 km from Goa capital Panaji and 710 km from Surat district in Gujarat.
