Modi In US: Yoga Day, Meeting With Business Leaders - A Look At PM's Day 1 Itinerary

While the International Yoga Day celebrations will be the highlight of his brief stay in New York, PM Modi will also meet thought leaders and business magnates, including Elon Musk.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in New York on Tuesday as part of the first leg of his three-day State visit to the United States. While the International Yoga Day celebrations at the United Nations will be the highlight of his brief stay in the city, PM Modi will also meet thought leaders and business magnates, including Elon Musk.

"Landed in New York City. Looking forward to the programmes here including interaction with thought leaders and the Yoga Day programme tomorrow, 21st June," Modi tweeted.

PM Modi received a grand welcome by the Indian diaspora in New York. PM Modi also interacted with some of them and shook hands amid 'Modi, Modi' chants and waving of the tricolour.

On the first day of his US visit, PM Modi has a power-packed schedule lined up, starting with Yoga Day celebrations. 

Here Is PM Modi's Day 1 Itinerary In New York

PM Modi will meet CEOs, Nobel laureates, economists, artists, scientists, scholars, entrepreneurs, academicians and health sector experts.

Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, American astrophysicist Neil DeGrasse Tyson, Nobel laureate Peter Agre, Lebanese-American essayist and mathematical statistician Nicholas Nassim Taleb and many other notable citizens are slated to interact with PM Modi.

He is also to meet Grammy award winner Falguni Shah, the singer better known as Falu Shah.

PM Modi will then lead the International Day of Yoga celebrations at the United Nations headquarters in New York. It will be the first time when the yoga day's main event will be held abroad.

Before kicking off the Yoda Day event, the PM will be paying respect to the bust of Mahatma Gandhi installed at the north lawn of the UN Headquarters.

PM Modi will be joined by UN General Assembly President Csaba Korosi and deputy secretary general of the UN Amina Mohammed. The event can be viewed on Doordarshan on Tuesday evening from 5:20 pm IST.

After New York, PM Modi will head to the capital Washington DC where President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden are expected to host a intimate private dinner.
