PM Modi In Gujarat, Day 2: WHO Global Centre For Traditional Medicine, Agro-Dairy Projects To Be Launched Today

PM Modi will be in Banaskantha to inaugurate a new dairy complex of Banas dairy at Deodar, a potato processing unit and community radio station of Banas dairy.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday evening arrived on a three-day visit to his home state Gujarat where he will dedicate to the nation and lay the foundation stone of multiple development projects worth Rs 20,000 crores.

On Day 1 of his visit, after landing at the Ahmedabad airport, the Prime Minister directly headed to Vidya Samiksha Kendra,  the command and control centre of the State Education Department as part of reforms the State government had initiated to improve the quality of education in primary schools. 

At the centre, the Prime Minister interacted with top officials and teachers about the new measures the government had launched to improve the standard of education across government schools. 

Today, on Day 2, PM Modi will be in Banaskantha to inaugurate a new dairy complex of Banas dairy at Deodar, a potato processing unit and community radio station of Banas dairy.  The event is scheduled to begin at around 9:40 am.

Before the visit, PM Modi tweeted, "I am delighted to be visiting Banas dairy yet again. I had last visited the Dairy in 2016. That time a series of products of the Dairy were launched. I had also visited the Dairy in 2013. Here are glimpses from both programmes."

For the programme at Banskantha, PM Modi had earlier tweeted, "A new dairy complex and potato processing plant will also be inaugurated. Both these projects will empower local farmers and contribute to value addition in the agro-dairy space".

 He will also lay the foundation stone for other projects of the dairy in the district before moving to Jamnagar at 3:30 pm where a new centre of the World Health Organisation (WHO) for traditional medicine is being set up. 

Prime Minister of Mauritius Pravind Jugnauth who arrived in Gujarat on Monday evening and the Director-General of WHO, Dr Tedros Ghebreyesus, who arrived in India late night on Monday will be attending the event in Jamnagar.

In a press release, the Ayush Ministry said, while Jamnagar would serve as the base, the new centre aims to engage and benefit the world, as it will focus on four strategic areas: evidence and learning; data and analytics; sustainability and equity; and innovation and technology to optimise the contribution of traditional medicine to global health

On April 20, Day 3 of his visit to the home turf, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the Global AYUSH Investment and Innovation Summit at Gandhinagar at around 10:30 am Thereafter, at around 3:30 pm, he will attend the Adijati Maha Sammelan in Dahod and inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of various development projects, said a press release by PMO.

 In Dahod, the PM will lay the foundation stone of various development projects worth around Rs 22,000 crore. He will also lay the foundation stone for the manufacturing of 9000 HP Electric Locomotives at the Production Unit.
