PM Modi Praises NDRF For Relief Efforts During Calamities In 103rd Edition Of 'Mann Ki Baat'

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday addressed the 103rd edition of his monthly radio broadcast 'Mann Ki Baat' and praised the efforts of NDRF during natural calamities.

PM Narendra Modi on Sunday addressed the 103rd edition of his monthly radio broadcast 'Mann Ki Baat' programme. In his address to the citizens, the PM praised the role of NDRF for the relief work and dedication works with for the people during the tough time of natural calamities. He said that the countrymen, including authorities, soldiers and locals, have brought the power of collective effort to the fore. Noting the tough situation across several states due to incessant rainfall leading to floods and landslides, the PM said that the last few days have been full of worry and trouble.

"Past few days have been full of worry and trouble due to natural calamities. People had to suffer in many places due to many flooding rivers like Yamuna. Incidents of landslides have also occurred in hilly areas," the Prime Minister said. 

He added, "In the midst of calamities, all of us countrymen have once again brought to the fore the power of collective effort."

Talking about efforts that are being made to conserve water, PM Modi praised the tribals of Madhya Pradesh's Shahdol who, with the help of officials, have begun transforming the wells into water recharge systems. Praising another such effort, he said, "One such encouraging news has come in from Uttar Pradesh. A few days ago, in UP, a record of planting 30 crore trees in a single day has been made."

He said that over 60,000 Amrit Sarovars built during the ‘Azaadi ka Amrit Mahotsav' are increasingly radiating their glow. "Work on building over 50,000 Amrit Sarovars is also underway. The people of our country are making new efforts to conserve water," he informed.

The Prime Minister also spoke on the ongoing month of 'Saawan'. He said, "My dear countrymen, at present the holy month of 'Saawan' is going on. Along with worshipping Mahadev, 'Sawan' is associated with greenery and joy."

PM Modi remembered two American tourists who came to visit Baba Amarnath. 

"People from all over the world are coming to our pilgrimages. I came to know about two such American friends who came from California for Amarnath Yatra," the PM added.  

Recalling a Yoga practitioner he met during his recent France visit, the PM said, "Recently, when I had gone to France, I met Charlotte Chopin who is a Yoga Practitioner, Yoga Teacher, and she is more than 100 years old. She has been practicing Yoga for the last 40 years. She credits her health and longevity to Yoga"

The return of some rare Indian artifacts by the US also found a place in PM's address. He thanked the US government for returning precious heritage to India.

"A few days ago, there was a craze across social media, America has returned us over 100 rare and ancient artifacts. These artifacts returned to India are from 250 to 2500 years old. These rare things belong to different regions of the country," he said.

PM Modi added, "I would like to thank the US Government for returning this precious heritage to us. Even in 2016 and 2021, when I visited America, many artifacts were returned to India"

The Prime Minister also highlighted India's record of destroying over 10 lakh kg of drugs worth over Rs 12,000 crore.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised painters in Ujjain for making attractive pictures of storybooks on the Puranas.

"I am happy that one such effort is going on in Ujjain these days. Here 18 painters from all over the country are making attractive picture storybooks based on the Puranas. These will be presented in Ujjain's Triveni Museum," he said.

PM Modi said that he also received a large number of letters from Muslim women who recently returned after completing 'Haj'. 

"These women performed 'Haj' without any male companion or 'Mehram'. Their number is not just 50 or 100, but over 4,000. This is a huge change, earlier Muslim women were not allowed to perform 'Haj' without any 'Mehram'. I would like to thank the Govt of Saudi Arabia for appointing women coordinators for Muslim women performing 'Haj' without 'Mehram'," the PM added.
