As Congress Pushes For Early Debate On Adani Issue, Govt Stares At Disruptions
The Opposition on Sunday urged the Centre to allow Parliament to discuss the bribery allegations against the Adani Group, brought forward by US prosecutors. However, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju emphasised that the agenda for both Houses would be determined by their respective business advisory committees, with approval from the presiding officers.
According to a report by PTI, speaking after an all-party meeting held ahead of the Winter Session starting Monday, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Rijiju appealed to all parties to ensure the smooth functioning of both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. The meeting, chaired by Defence Minister and senior BJP leader Rajnath Singh, saw the participation of 42 leaders from 30 parties.
Addressing the Congress' insistence on prioritising a discussion on the Adani issue alongside other matters like the unrest in Manipur, Rijiju reiterated that the decision on parliamentary business rests with the committees, in consultation with the Speaker of the Lok Sabha and the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha.
