In a separate incident in Rawalpura outside a school, an Army jawan was targeted and shot at. He was hospitalised after the attack. Intelligence had earlier issued an alert of the presence of terrorists in the area. Such major attacks in core Srinagar areas are taking place after nearly 2.5 years. The last major attack in Srinagar was in April 2022.
Visuals from the area showed security forces using drones to pinpoint the terrorists' location.
Search operations are underway in Budgam and Bandipora after terror attacks in the regions. An Army camp was also attacked in Bandipora on Saturday morning.
