Pakistani Nationals Who Had Long-Term Visa Must Apply Again: Check Rules & Deadline
Pakistani nationals residing in India on Long-Term Visas must reapply online via the e-FRRO portal starting May 10, 2025.

Jaipur: In a significant update to India's immigration policy, the Ministry of Home Affairs has mandated that all Pakistani nationals residing in India on Long-Term Visas (LTVs), who have not acquired Indian citizenship, must reapply online via the e-FRRO portal starting May 10, 2025.
The move aims to verify and streamline the records of foreign residents staying in India under the LTV framework. The updated process must be completed by July 10, 2025, failing which their visa will be cancelled. They will be then treated as illegal residents, subject to strict legal action under Indian law.
Documents Required For Reapplication
To submit a fresh LTV application on the e-FRRO portal, applicants must upload the following documents:
- Copy of their valid Long-Term Visa.
- Recent passport-size photograph (white background).
- Copy of their latest residential address proof.
- Details proving their occupation and religion.
- Copy of their citizenship application, if already submitted
The directive was confirmed by Vishnukant, Inspector General of Police (Security), Rajasthan, who cited an official order issued by Pratap Singh Rawat, Under Secretary in the Foreigners Identification Division.
The Rajasthan government has also circulated guidelines to facilitate compliance for Pakistani nationals residing in the state, urging them to complete all formalities within two months.
Consequences Of Non-Compliance
Individuals who fail to reapply within the specified period could face deportation or prosecution under the Foreigners Act, 1946.
The strict rules come in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed 26 lives. The attack was followed by retaliatory measures by India, including visa cancellations, suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, and ouster of Pakistani military diplomats from the country.
