Pakistan Trying To Send Weapons, Drugs To India, Won't Let It Happen: Army Commander

Asserting that India has significantly brought down cross-border terrorism from Pakistan, Northern Army Commander Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi said the Army will neutralise all security threats.

India has been able to control cross-border terrorism to a large extent, Northern Army Commander Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi said on Tuesday. Revealing precise details of terrorists he said: “We have almost 160 terrorists sitting at the launchpad of which there are 130 North of Pir Panjal & 30 south of Pir Panjal. As for the complete hinterland, a total of 82 Pakistani terrorists & 53 local terrorists.”

He said almost “170 unidentified terrorists are also here”. “Thus, a total of 300 terrorists are currently spread in the area, but we're ensuring that they are not able to indulge in any untoward activity,” Dwivedi said.

“We've controlled terrorism to some extent. Our neighbouring country is now trying to infiltrate pistols, grenades and drugs in an attempt to create small incidents of unrest but we'll not let it happen,” Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi said.

“The country has over 50% people below the age of 25. If we take them in as Agniveers, teach them, and send them back, some will be absorbed by the Army, others by paramilitary, police forces and the remaining can be self-employed,” the Army Commander said.

Earlier in the day, the Border Security Force (BSF) said that the number of incidents of drone droppings from Pakistan has gone down substantially along the international border in Jammu.
