Pakistan Has Accepted The Might Of BrahMos: Rajnath Singh In Bhuj

India reaffirms its strong stance against terrorism with the BrahMos missile, showcasing its precision and power in Operation Sindoor amid escalating tensions with Pakistan.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, addressing Air Warriors at the Air Force Station in Bhuj, Gujarat, on Thursday, emphasized India's unwavering resolve against terrorism. Singh's speech came amid heightened tensions following a coordinated missile and drone strike by Pakistan on more than a dozen Indian military installations across the Northern and Western theatres.

In a direct reference to India’s defense capabilities, Singh remarked, "...Even Pakistan has accepted the power of BrahMos missile. There is an old saying in our country, 'Din mein taare dekhna.' Made in India BrahMos missile showed 'raat ke andhere mein din ka ujala' to Pakistan."

BrahMos Missile – A Force Multiplier for India's Defence

The BrahMos missile, developed jointly by India's Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Russia's NPO Mashinostroyeniya, played a key role in the recent Operation Sindoor, which was launched in retaliation for the April 22 Pahalgam attack by Pakistan-based terrorist group The Resistance Front (TRF). The operation targeted nine terrorist camps within Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, deliberately avoiding military targets to focus solely on dismantling terror infrastructure.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also highlighted the impact of the BrahMos missile during a speech on May 11, stating, "You must have seen a glimpse of the BrahMos missile during Operation Sindoor. If you didn't, then just ask the people of Pakistan about the power of the BrahMos missile."

Key Features of the BrahMos Missile

  • Speed: Mach 2.8 to 3.0, making interception highly challenging.

  • Range: 450 km to 800 km for extended range variants.

  • Launch Platforms: Air, land, sea, and submarine capable, including the Su-30MKI fighter.

  • Accuracy: Near pinpoint precision, with a 1 meter CEP.

  • Payload: 200-300 kg high-explosive or semi-armor piercing warhead.

Compared to conventional subsonic cruise missiles, the BrahMos offers:

  • 3 times more velocity

  • 2.5 to 3 times more flight range

  • 3 to 4 times more seeker range

  • 9 times more kinetic energy

The missile, named after the Brahmaputra and Moskva rivers, symbolizes the deep strategic partnership between India and Russia. First inducted by the Indian Navy in 2005, the Army in 2007, and the Air Force in 2019, the BrahMos has since become a critical part of India's defense arsenal.

Following Operation Sindoor, Pakistan escalated its response with missile and drone strikes targeting bases like Rafiqui, Murid, Nur Khan, Rahim Yar Khan, Sukkur, and Chunian, along with additional reported damage at Skardu, Bholari, Jacobabad, and Sargodha airfields. Indian defense systems, including the Integrated Counter-Drone Grid and layered Air Defence systems, effectively countered these attempts, maintaining a robust deterrent posture.

While the Indian Defence Ministry has yet to formally confirm the use of BrahMos in these strikes, multiple reports suggest its likely involvement alongside SCALP and HAMMER munitions.
