Pakistan Army Violates Ceasefire At LoC For 11th Night In A Row, Indian Troops Respond Promptly

Pakistan Army Violates Ceasefire: Pakistani forces continue unprovoked firing across the LoC for the 11th consecutive night, escalating tensions in Jammu and Kashmir after the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam.

The night of May 04-05, 2025, saw continued ceasefire violations by the Pakistan Army, with unprovoked small arms fire across the Line of Control (LoC) targeting areas in Jammu and Kashmir, including Kupwara, Baramulla, Poonch, Rajauri, Mendhar, Naushera, Sunderbani, and Akhnoor.

"During the night of 04-05 May 2025, Pakistan Army posts resorted to unprovoked small arms fire across the LoC in areas opposite Kupwara, Baramulla, Poonch, Rajauri, Mendhar, Naushera, Sunderbani, and Akhnoor in J&K. The Indian Army responded promptly and proportionately." This escalation marks the tenth consecutive night of violations, with no casualties reported. The Pakistani troops have persistently violated the ceasefire since April 24, 2025, following the terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22, which left 26 people dead, mostly tourists, fueling increased tensions between the two nations.

This escalation follows the terror attack on April 22 in Pahalgam, which claimed the lives of 26 people, mostly tourists. The attack has contributed to heightened tensions between the two nations. Pakistan’s aggressive actions escalated after India suspended the Indus Waters Treaty following the terror attack. On April 24, Pakistan retaliated by blocking its airspace for Indian airlines, closing the Wagah border crossing, suspending all trade with India, and threatening any diversion of water under the Indus Waters Treaty as an "act of war."

This is for the eleventh consecutive night, Pakistan has engaged in unprovoked firing across the border in Jammu and Kashmir, amid rising tensions following the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22, which claimed the lives of 26 people, mostly tourists. Ceasefire violations along the LoC and International Border (IB) had been uncommon since both India and Pakistan reaffirmed their ceasefire agreement on February 25, 2021. However, the situation has sharply deteriorated after the Pahalgam attack.

Starting from the night of April 24—just hours after India suspended the Indus Waters Treaty—Pakistani forces initiated unprovoked firing at multiple points along the LoC, beginning in the Kashmir Valley. What began as small-arms fire targeting Indian posts in Kupwara and Baramulla districts soon spread to the Poonch sector and later to Akhnoor in the Jammu region.
