Padma Awards 2025: Osamu Suzuki, Sushil Modi, Sharda Sinha Among Recipients — Check Full List

The government announced the 2025 Padma Awards honouring 139 individuals. Seven received the Padma Vibhushan, 19 the Padma Bhushan, and 113 the Padma Shri, including one duo award.

The Union government on Saturday declared the names of the awardees who will be receiving the Padma Awards 2025 ahead of the Republic Day. After the list of Padma Awards was announced, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated them for their extraordinary achievements.

For the year 2025, President Droupadi Murmu has approved the conferment of 139 Padma Awards including seven Padma Vibhushan, 19 Padma Bhushan, and 113 Padma Shri Awards. It also includes one duo case (in a duo case, the award is counted as one). 23 of the awardees are women and the list also includes 10 persons from the Foreigners/NRI/PIO/OCI category and 13 posthumous awardees.

"Congratulations to all the Padma awardees. India is proud to honour and celebrate their extraordinary achievements. Their dedication and perseverance are truly motivating. Each awardee is synonymous with hard work, passion and innovation, which has positively impacted countless lives. They teach us the value of striving for excellence and serving society selflessly," PM Modi said in a post on X.

Some of the names on the list include former Suzuki Motors chief Osamu Suzuki, former Maharashtra CM Manohar Joshi, BJP leader and former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Modi, a former Chief Justice of India Jagdish Singh Khehar, MT Vasudevan Nair, a legendary figure in Malayalam literature, and late singer Sharda Sinha. Pankaj Udhas, ghazal and playback singer, Playback singer Arijit Singh, cricketer R Ashwin, and former India hockey player PR Sreejesh will also be awarded.

Ram temple architect Chandrakant Sompura, Hindu spiritual leader from Brazil Jonas Masetti, Paralympian Harvinder Singh, and a Kuwaiti Yoga practitioner Shaikha A J Al Sabah among others. The Padma Awards, one of the highest civilian honours in the country, are conferred in three categories — Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhuhan, and Padma Shri.

A folk artist from Gangtok Naren Gurung, Nimadi and Hindi author Jagdish Joshila, apple farmer from Bilaspur Hariman Sharma, humanitarian homepath Vilas Dangre, Noklak's fruit man L Hangthing, are on the list of Padma Shri awardees.

Additionally, the 'OG Travel Bloggers' Hugh and Colleen Gantzer from Uttarakhand, who have authored over 30 books and written over 3,000 articles will be recognised with Padma Shri for their contribution to travel journalism.

Dr Neerja Bhatla, a Delhi-based Gynaecologist who specialises in cervical cancer detection, prevention, and management, has also been awarded the Padma Shri.

A 100-year-old freedom fighter from Goa Libia Lobo Sardesai, a Dhak player from West Bengal Gokul Chandra Dey, and a India's first woman puppeteers are also on the list of Padma Shri awardees. The 57-year-old Dhak player trained 150 women in the male-dominated field area, breaking the gender stereotype.

Libia Lobo Sardesai played an important role in Goa's freedom movement and co-founded an underground radio station called 'Voz da Liberdabe (Voice of Freedom)', in 1955 against the Portuguese rule.

The awards are given to recognise those who contributed to various fields like art, social work, public affairs, science, engineering, business, industry, medicine, literature, education, sports and civil service with their excellent work.
