New Delhi: Congress leader P Chidambaram was discharged and brought back to Enforcement Directorate office from AIIMS where he was admitted earlier today for gastrointestinal health complications. He is currently in Enforcement Directorate's (ED) remand in connection with the INX media case. News agency PTI had reported that Chidambaram complained of stomach ache and other related issues. Its Sources said Chidambaram was taken to the RML Hospital in the morning but was later shifted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences here. He was brought to the hospital around 5.40 PM and was being examined by a team of doctors in the old private ward. While those close to Chidambaram said "his condition is not good", ED sources claimed "there was nothing serious". The former union minister was arrested by the CBI on August 21 in the corruption case which was registered on May 15, 2017 alleging irregularities in a Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) clearance granted to the INX Media group for receiving overseas funds of Rs 305 crore in 2007. The embattled Congress leader was the finance minister then. Last Tuesday the beleaguered Congressman  was granted bail by the Supreme Court in the INX media case but is contuing to remain in ED custody till October 30. More details are awaited.
