'Don't See Anything Wrong': Chidambaram Praises Modi Govt's Op Sindoor Delegation

This support comes amidst Congress's criticism of the ceasefire's timing and demands for clarification on losses after the Pahalgam attack.

Former Union Minister and Congress leader P Chidambaram has praised the Modi government for its diplomatic outreach programme in the wake of Operation Sindoor

In an interview with the Indian Express, Chidambaram said that it is a good decision by the government.

"By and large it’s a good decision to send multi-party delegations to capitals of the world… See, what these MPs will explain is only the government stand," the Congress leader said.

"They will not add or subtract from the government stand. They will not add their own party’s positions or doubts. They will simply, faithfully convey the government's stand. And I don’t see anything wrong in the government enlisting the services of multi-party delegations to explain its stand," he added.

The remarks come as Congress offers its full support to the government on any actions it took after the Pahalgam terror attack but has been criticising it over the timing and manner of the ceasefire.

The grand old party has also demanded clarification on losses suffered by the Indian side and a special session of the Parliament to discuss the April 22 Pahalgam terrorist attack that killed 26 civilians.

A row also erupted after the government constituted all-party delegations to carry India's message of counter-terrorism to the world and appointed Congress MP Shashi Tharoor to lead one of the delegations.

The Congress alleged that the government asked for four names for the delegation which did not include Tharoor's but went forward with appointing them as the delegation head.
