NIA Files Chargesheet Against Mohsin Ahmad For Propagation, Raising Funds For ISIS

Moshin was arrested by NIA on August 6 last year during a search operation conducted at his residence in Delhi's Batla House  

New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency on Tuesday filed a chargesheet against alleged member of the ISIS, Mohsin Ahmad in NIA Special Court at Patiala House Court. The case was registered by the federal agency suo-motu on June 25, 2022 for propagation of ISIS ideology and raising funds for the organisation. 

“During investigations, it has been established that the accused, Mohammad Mohsin Ahmad, raised funds for ISIS and sent these funds to his Syria based ISIS handlers through Crypto currency channels,” said the federal anti-terror agency. 

The accused has been booked under sections 120B and 204 of the Indian Penal Code and Section 17, 18, 39 and 40 of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. 

“Investigations have revealed that the accused Mohammed Mohsin Ahmad conspired with an ISIS Handler and others for propagation of the ISIS ideology, with the ultimate objective to radicalise the Indian youth and recruit them for ISIS,” the NIA said in a press release.

“He was also involved in raising funds for ISIS from the ISIS sympathisers in India and sending the collected funds to his Syria based ISIS handlers through Crypto-currency channels, thereby supporting the ISIS in furtherance of its terrorist activities,” it added. 

Moshin was arrested by NIA on August 6 last year from his residence in Delhi and was sent to judicial custody. He was arrested during a search operation conducted at his residence at Batla House in the national capital.

"Ahmad is a radicalised and active member of ISIS. He has been arrested for his involvement in the collection of funds for ISIS from sympathisers in India as well as abroad," the NIA had said.

In July last year, the federal probe agency conducted searches at 13 premises of suspects in six states in connection with activities pertaining to ISIS. The raids were conducted in six states including Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Bihar, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh. 

The agency conducted searches at Bhopal and Raisen districts in Madhya Pradesh; Bharuch, Surat, Navsari and Ahmedabad districts in Gujarat, Araria district in Bihar, Bhatkal and Tumkur City districts in Karnataka, Kolhapur and Nanded districts in Maharashtra and Deoband districts in Uttar Pradesh.
