Nepal: 34-Year-Old Indian Tourist Dies After Falling Down Steep Hill, Probe Underway

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Hari Khatiwada, a team of police officers has arrived at the scene to conduct an inquiry.

Police stated on Sunday that a 34-year-old Indian tourist died after falling from a cliff in Nepal's Panchthar district. According to authorities, Keshav Gurung, a Sikkim native, tumbled down the hill on Saturday night while returning from Chiwa Bhanjyang, a tourist destination in eastern Nepal, where he had travelled to celebrate Nepalese New Year. Nepal celebrated New Year according to the Bikram Era calendar on Friday, news agency PTI reported.

Gurung and four of his pals had travelled to Chiwa Bhanjyang on a visit.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Hari Khatiwada, a team of police officers has arrived at the scene to conduct an inquiry.

Earlier in January, according to authorities, a 42-year-old Indian tourist was discovered dead in a hotel room in Nepal's capital. The Police said that the tourist Saikat Ganguly was discovered dead in his room at Hotel Lily in Thamel, Kathmandu's tourist district.

According to authorities, the body was sent to the Forensic Department of Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital for a post-mortem.

Similarly last year, a 34-year-old pregnant Indian tourist died after suffering a heart attack while being transported from one hospital to another in Lisbon owing to a lack of available beds, as per the local media.

According to local media accounts, the Indian woman was 31 weeks pregnant when she was rushed to Santa Maria Hospital, one of the country's major healthcare institutions, with shortness of breath.

According to sources, once her health was stabilised, the hospital sent her to the Sao Francisco Xavier hospital since its neonatal unit was overcrowded. According to accounts, she fell into cardiac arrest on the way.

According to accounts, she had a C-section at the second hospital and the infant was admitted to the neonatal care unit while she died. According to the BBC, an inquiry into the woman's death has been initiated.
