INSV Tarini Sailors Extend Wishes On Women's Day, Rajnath Singh Calls Them 'Beacon Of Nari Shakti'
Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday interacted with the sailors through video conferencing and lauded them for their dedication, courage, and resilience.

Indian Navy officers Lt Cdr Dilna K and Lt Cdr Roopa A, who are currently sailing vessel INSV Tarini as part of the Navika Sagar Parikrama II (NSP II) initiative, extended wishes on the occasion of International Women's Day. They urged women to remember their power and potential and stay together and independent.
On the eve of the Women's Day, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday interacted with the sailors through video conferencing and lauded them for their dedication, courage, and resilience. Singh called the women crew a "beacon of Nari Shakti" and congratulated them on achieving the remarkable milestone of crossing Point Nemo, the world's most isolated waters. The two-women crew has also sailed through the Drake Passage, one of the most treacherous water bodies.
In a video message on Saturday, March 8, Indian Navy Lt Cdr Dilna said: "To all the strong women in my life and around the world, wishing you all a very happy International Women's Day. Today we celebrate our strength resilience. Each one of you has inspired me and motivated me and made a difference in my life. Let us remember that our voice matters, our story matters, and our presence matters."
"Never let anyone bring you down. Stand together, independent, respectful and supportive, as I sail along with Roopa. We remind ourselves of the bar of women's friendship and strength," she added.

Lt Cdr Roopa appeared in the same video message and motivated women to always remember their potential and power.
Thanking the women in her life for the success she has achieved, she said: "To all the mothers, aunts, friends, and colleagues, you have made a difference in my life, ignited a spark in me that has made me chase my dreams. You have all given me a strength and courage to grow from a girl to a woman and break stereotypes along the way. I want you to remember your part and your potential. Prioritize yourself and everything will fall into your place."
The two naval officer had embarked on the global circumnavigation expedition on INSV Tarini in October 2024. "Their sailing vessel INSV Tarini, currently in the South Atlantic Ocean at a distance of 450 nautical miles from the previous port of call Port Stanley in the Falkland Islands, is heading to Cape Town, South Africa," a statement by the Ministry of Defence noted.

Rajnath Singh Interacts With INSV Tarini Crew
During his interaction with the sailors, Singh lauded them for their courageous journey aboard the INSV Tarini and emerging as a "beacon of Nari Shakti" despite the immensely challenging expedition.
He also reiterated the government’s vision of a gender-inclusive armed force, encouraging young women to aspire for careers in defence and adventure sports.
In a post on X, the Defence Minister said: "On the eve of International Women's Day, I interacted with the amazing crew of Navika Sagar Parikrama II. Their courageous journey aboard INSV Tarini, tackling the immense challenge of circumnavigating the globe, stands as a beacon of Nari Shakti. Their unwavering resilience, calm demeanor, and meticulous approach during extended periods of harsh maritime conditions, while traversing thousands of nautical miles, exemplify the exceptional capabilities of women today."
"As a proud Nation, we celebrate their unparalleled achievements and extend our heartfelt wishes for the successful completion of this remarkable expedition," he added.
