New Delhi: In a much unprecedented move, Prime Minster Narendra Modi on Monday took to Twitter and expressed his desire to quit all his social media profiles including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube. PM Modi, however, said that he would delete his social media accounts on the coming Sunday and will keep everyone posted regarding the same. "This Sunday, thinking of giving up my social media accounts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram & YouTube. Will keep you all posted," Prime Minister wrote on Twitter. Soon after tweeting about quitting social media, PM Modi posted the same message on Facebook and Instagram. Reacting to the same, former Congress president Rahul Gandhi to leave hatred and not his social media. Even senior Congress leader Randeep Surjewala also reacted to PM Modi's tweet saying asking him to advice the same to those who troll people on social media. The news came as a big surprise for followers of the Prime Minster as people started requesting him not to do so. Hashtags such as #NoSir, #SocialMedia and #Modiji started trending soon after PM Modi tweet and millions of his followers were taken by surprise. The tweet garnered great engagement as just within 30 minutes, it was retweeted over 14,000 times and was liked by over 10,000 users. PM Modi is one of the most followed politicians on social media with over 53 million followers on Twitter and 44 million on Facebook. On Instagram, PM Modi is the most followed world leader with over 30 million followers. US President Donald Trump is currently followed by 28.3 million users on Twitter. (This is a developing story.
