PM Oath Taking Ceremony: Narendra Modi Pays Tribute To Mahatma Gandhi, Former PM Vajpayee — WATCH

PM-Designate Narendra Modi paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi, former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and laid a wreath at the National War Memorial ahead of his oath-taking ceremony.

Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi reached Rajghat on Sunday morning to pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi before his oath-taking ceremony which will be held today, at the Rashtrapati Bhawan. He was accompanied by Hardeep Singh Puri.

He wore a white kurta-pyjama with a red ‘angavastra’ (stole). 

Narendra Modi also visited the Sadaiv Atal to pay tribute to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. 

He later visited the National War Memorial along with Rajnath Singh.

Modi along with CDS Gen Anil Chauhan, Army Chief Gen Manoj Pande, Indian Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh Tripathi, and VCAS Air Vice Marshal Amar Preet Singh laid a wreath at the National War Memorial.

Modi will take the Prime Minister's oath for the third consecutive term, today at 7:15 PM. Modi, 73, will be equalling the feat of the first prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru, who won in 1952, 1957 and 1962 general elections. This comes after the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) unanimously passed a resolution to elect Narendra Modi as their leader on June 5.

Along with Modi, his council members will also take their oath. Preparations for the swearing-in ceremony are in full swing. Around 1,100 traffic police personnel of the Delhi Police have been deployed, and arrangements have been made for the delegates as part of the arrangements for PM-designate Narendra Modi's oath ceremony on Sunday.

Apart from this, NSG commandos, drones, and snipers will also guard the Rashtrapati Bhavan for the event.

According to ANI, Delhi has been declared a ‘no-flying’ zone, which means sub-conventional aerial platforms like paragliders, paramotors, hang gliders, UAVs, UAS, microlight aircraft, and remote-controlled aircraft have been banned in the national capital.

The Election Commission announced that the BJP won 240 seats and the Congress 99 seats. BJP had won 303 seats in the 2019 general elections and 282 seats in the 2014 general elections.
