Nandigram Poll Result: Calcutta HC To Pronounce Verdict On CM Mamata's Plea On Wednesday
Mamata Banerjee alleged discrepancies of counting in Nandigram as she was defeated by 1,956 votes. The Returning Officer turned down her request of recounting the votes.
Kolkata: The Calcutta High Court will give its judgment on Mamata Banerjee's plea of recusal on June 7 at 11 am. The West Bengal CM had pleaded that the judge assigned to hear her appeal of the Nandigram case, Justice Kaushik Chanda recuse himself as he is "an active member of BJP".
The Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo had appeared before Justice Kaushik Chanda's court via video conference on June 18 and argued that the single-bench judge might not be able to provide her with justice because of his suspected BJP ties.

Earlier, the Chief Minister's lawyer Abhishek Manu Singhvi had written to Acting Chief Justice Rajesh Bindal of the Calcutta High Court, requesting that her election petition be reassigned to another bench.
Banerjee argued in her recusal plea that the case would have political repercussions because it involved the adjudication of an election appeal in which a BJP candidate's candidacy was questioned.
Mamata Banerjee accused former TMC confidante Suvendu Adhikari of corruption and violation of Section 123 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951. Adhikari had reportedly beat the TMC leader by less than 2000 votes in the recently conducted assembly elections.
