Back to back murders in Bihar; Sushil Modi 'urges' criminals to stop crime in Pitru Paksha

Within 24 hours of the murder of former Muzaffarpur mayor Sameer Kumar, robbers killed a micro-finance worker in Hajipur.

New Delhi: Amid proliferating criminal incidents in Bihar, Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Modi has 'pleaded' the criminals to shun felonious activities for the fifteen days of religiously significant Pitru Paksha. In a fresh example of deteriorating law and order situation in the state, unidentified robbers killed a micro finance worker in Hajipur during a loot, just a day after the murder of former mayor of Muzaffarpur Sameer Kumar which shook the entire state. Three days after the murder of former mayor of Muzaffarpur Sameer Kumar, no major progress has been made by police in the case. Sushil Modi’s statement: Deputy CM of Bihar Sushil Modi requested the criminals to not perpetrate crimes during the religiously significant month of 'Pitru Paksh'. Addressing a gathering on the inauguration of the world famous Pitru Paksh mela, Sushil Modi urged the criminals to shun violence during the 15 days of the festival. He said: “Do not indulge in activities that would bring a bad name to the reputation of Bihar and Gaya during these 15 days, because if you do, you won’t be able to escape the CCTV cameras covering the entire place.” Former Muzaffarpur mayor Sameer Kumar's murder: Sameer Kumar, former mayor of Muzaffarpur Municipal Corporation, was shot dead on Sunday by unidentified assailants who fired at least 20 rounds at him from an AK-47 gun. The driver of the former mayor was also killed in the attack. In the CCTV footage it can be seen that the criminals were waiting for Kumar to arrive . This suggests that they had already done their research on Kumar and knew that he does not take the main road to home but takes the alternative route. The two men stopped their motorcycle in front of Kumar’s car. The pillion then got off the bike and started firing at him. After confirming that Kumar was dead, the assailants fled the spot. Protests: People blocked roads and stopped traffic to demonstrate protest against the murder of the former mayor. The protesters raised slogans against the police and shopkeepers in the main markets too did not open their shops. They demanded arrest of the assailants Watch ABP News' report
