Mother-Son Duo Among Four Killed In Car-Truck Collision In Chhattisgarh
The incident occurred on Tuesday late at night near Khapparwada village under Gunderdehi police station limits.
New Delhi: Four persons, including a woman and her son, were killed after the car they were travelling in collided with a truck in Balod district of Chhattisgarh, a police official told PTI on Wednesday.
According to the official, the incident occurred on Tuesday late at night near Khapparwada village under Gunderdehi police station limits when the victims were on their way to Balod from Raipur. All four are said to have died on the spot.
The victims were identified as Simran Saluja (48), her son Rajveer Saluja (19), Ashok and Umesh Sahu (24).
Reportedly, the woman and her son, residents of Balod, had gone to Raipur for some family work when their car broke down. They then rented a car and were returning home in it along with their driver Ashok. Sahu was driving the hired vehicle, the official said.
It was when they reached Khapadwada that their car collided with a truck carrying iron, after which locals informed police.
"The car collided head on with an iron-ore laden truck that was coming from the opposite direction, leaving all four occupants dead on the spot," the police official said.
As soon as the police were informed, the team rushed immediately to the spot and sent the bodies for post mortem.
Meanwhile, a case has been registered in connection with the incident and efforts are on to trace the truck driver who fled from the scene.
Earlier on Tuesday morning, around 13 people, including two minors, were injured after a bus overturned in Chhattisgarh's Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi (GPM) district.
The injured persons were on their way to Raipur from Uttar Pradesh's Ayodhya in a private bus, which apparently lost control and met with the accident on Venkat Nagar main road at Pendra Road at around 5 am, said a police officer told ANI. There were around 60-70 people in the bus.
