Bomb Threat: Moscow Flight Makes Emergency Landing In Delhi. Nothing Suspicious Found, Say Police

A flight coming from Moscow to Delhi received a call about a bomb. The flight landed in Delhi at around 3.20 am, Delhi Police said.

New Delhi: A plane from Moscow carrying 400 people made an emergency landing in the national capital on Friday after an e-mail warning of bombs was received, according to officials.

The Aeroflot aircraft operating flight SU 232 landed at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi at 2.48 am. The passengers and crew were evacuated safely, news agency PTI reported officials as saying.

According to the Delhi police, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) received an e-mail warning of bombs on the flight on Thursday night.

Upon landing in Delhi, the 386 passengers and 14 crew members onboard the flight were immediately evacuated, a senior police official said, as per PTI.

The flight was checked and nothing has been found so far. The aircraft has been isolated, the official informed.

"On Thursday around 11 pm, a threat message was received at IGI Control Room social media site regarding bombs planted on board Russian flight no SU-272 arriving at IGI Airport. The flight landed at 2.48 am safely," one of the officials said.

Full emergency was declared for the landing of the Boeing 777 aircraft that was being operated by Russian carrier Aeroflot, the official added.

This comes after a false bomb threat was recently reported onboard an Iranian passenger jet over Indian airspace with its final destination in China.

"On Oct 3, intimation was received of a bomb scare on an aircraft bearing Iranian registration, when it was transiting through Indian airspace. IAF fighter aircraft were scrambled, which followed the aircraft at a safe distance," the IAF stated, as reported by ANI.

"Aircraft was offered option to land at Jaipur & then, at Chandigarh. But the pilot declared his unwillingness to divert to either of them. After a while intimation was received from Tehran to disregard the bomb scare. Aircraft continued on its journey toward its final destination," the air force mentioned in a statement.

Indian Air Force Su-30MKI fighter jets from Punjab and Jodhpur airbases were reportedly scrambled to intercept the plane.

Meanwhile, more details pertaining to the Moscow-Delhi flight are awaited.
