Rain Highlights: Hello and welcome to ABP Live's Moonsoon 2023 LIVE blog. Please follow this space for all the news and latest updates regarding downpours across various parts of the country. As the rain batters several parts of India, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh continue to bear the maximum brunt, reporting loss of life and damage to properties. The monsoon is also being witnessed in parts of North India, including Delhi and Punjab.

As many as 15 houses collapsed and seven cowsheds were completely destroyed in subsidence and landslides at Jakhan village, part of Madrasu gram panchayat on Langha Road, 50 km from Uttarakhand's Dehradun on Wednesday, an official statement informed. At least 71 people have been killed in rain-related incidents in the last three days in Himachal Pradesh, officials said on Wednesday, ANI reported.

A total of 2,038 people have lost their lives due to floods, lightning, and landslides in the monsoon season this year with Bihar reporting the highest casualty figure of 518 and Himachal Pradesh 330. Meanwhile, 101 people went missing and 1,584 received injuries during the rains and floods from April 1 to August 17, news agency PTI reported citing data prepared by the Union Home Ministry.

The details come as the government of Himachal Pradesh on Friday declared the whole state as a "Natural Calamity Affected Area".

The India Meteorological Department has predicted light rain in the national capital on Thursday. According to the weather office, the sky is expected to remain mostly cloudy over the next few days in Delhi. The maximum temperature is likely to hover around 34 degrees Celsius, and the minimum temperature is expected to remain around 26 degrees Celsius.

In Punjab, several areas of Gurdaspur got submerged following heavy rain lashing parts of the state. Several teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), the Army and the Border Security Force (BSF) were dispatched to conduct rescue operations in the flood-hit region. News agency ANI shared a visual from the area that showed waterlogged streets.
