"Action Taken By 'Delhi Durbar' Was Unconstitutional, Undemocratic & Unlawful": Mehbooba Mufti In Audio Message Post Release

Jammu & Kashmir: PDP president Mehbooba Mufti was released on Tuesday evening by the state government after being in detention for over 14 months.

Soon after being released from her 14-month detention at her residence, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president and former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mehbooba Mufti issued a terse message saying "August 5, 2019 would always pain my heart and soul." During this time the black decision of August 5, 2019, black day, would always pain my heart and soul. None of us can ever forget the insult of that day," Mufti said . In the 1 minute 23 second audio message posted on her Twitter, Mehbooba said that the action taken by "Delhi Durbar" was "unconstitutional, undemocratic and unlawful" and "whatever was illegally snatched away from us in the Delhi Durbar on August 5, will have to be taken back. Thousands of people sacrificed their lives in Jammu and Kashmir, they have to put back their struggle to resolve it."
Even though the leaders across the political party lines continued to pour in congratulatory messages over her release, the PDP president said that the struggle for a Kashmir resolution will continue. She also demand the release of the people of Jammu and Kashmir who have been jailed in different prisons of the country. A day after her release, National Conference president Farooq Abdullah and NC Vice President Omar Abdullah visited Mehbooba Mufti at her residence on Wednesday.

She was arrested along with Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah on August 5, 2019 when the Constitution's Articles 370 and 35A were abrogated and the state bifurcated and downgraded into two Union Territories. Initially, she was taken into preventive custody. Later on February 5 this year, she was slapped with the PSA.
