'Not Interested In Just Assurances, Will Like To See Action': MEA On Attacks On Indian Embassies
MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said India had strongly taken up the vandalisation incidents by pro-Khalistani supporters with the US and UK governments.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Friday said India was not interested in just assurances and would like to see action against those who attacked the Indian consulate in San Francisco and the Indian mission in London.
In his weekly media briefing, MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said India had strongly taken up the vandalisation incidents with the US and UK governments.
"At least in London & San Francisco, we have strongly taken up the matter of vandalisation. You would have also seen the statements that we have put out in this regard. We expect that host governments will take action to identify and prosecute all those involved and also take necessary actions to prevent the recurrence of such incidents," ANI quoted Bagchi as saying.
"We hope host govternments provide full and adequate protection to our missions and to the personnel working there...We are not interested in just assurances, I think we would like to see action," Bagchi further said.

The MEA reaction comes days after pro-Khalistan separatists pulled down the tricolour at the Indian mission in London.
The Indian government lodged a strong protest and called on the British government to ensure adequate security at the Indian High Commission. Earlier this week, India summoned the British deputy High Commissioner and demanded an explanation over the complete "absence of security".
The UK government has said it would take the security of the Indian High Commission "seriously" and condemned the "disgraceful" and "completely unacceptable" vandalism at the Indian mission.
Earlier this week, India removed security barricades outside the British High Commission at Shantipath in the Chanakyapuri diplomatic enclave. Barricades were also removed from outside the Rajaji Marg residence of British High Commissioner Alex Ellis.
In the US, a group of Khalistan supporters on Sunday broke open the makeshift security barriers raised by the police and installed two Khalistani flags inside the premises of the Indian Consulate in San Francisco. Thereafter, a group of protesters entered the consulate premises and started attacking the door and windows with iron rods.
