Mamata Banerjee's First Message From Hospital: 'Maintain Peace', Will Be Back For Campaigning Soon

Mamata Banerjee Injured: The TMC chief in a video message from the hospital also said that she would be back for poll campaigning in few days and use a wheelchair if needed.

West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo Mamata Banerjee, who is presently recuperating at Kolkata’s SSKM Hospital following the alleged attack on her in Nandigram, on Thursday urged her party cadres and supporters to maintain peace and not do anything that would cause problems to the public.

The TMC chief in a video message from the hospital said that she would be back for poll campaigning in few days and use a wheelchair if needed.

The Chief Minister’s appeal comes as the alleged attack on her earlier on Wednesday has triggered a war of words between the TMC and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which has been firing on all cylinders in its bid to trounce the ruling party in the West Bengal electoral battle.

Mamata Banerjee, who is under observation in the hospital, sustained injuries on her left leg and waist as she fell on the ground after she was allegedly pushed by unknown miscreants while campaigning for the assembly elections in Nandigram.

Preliminary medical tests conducted on the TMC chief on Wednesday night detected severe bone injuries in her left ankle and foot besides injuries in the right shoulder, forearm and neck.

The TMC supremo had on Wednesday filed her nomination to contest the ensuing assembly elections from the Nandigram seat where she is locked in a bitter contest against her one-time aide turned BJP rival Suvendu Adhikari.
