Congress Leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury Calls Mamata Banerjee's Nandigram Mishap 'A Gimmick To Gain Sympathy Votes'
Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said that the law and order situation of Bengal is worse and Mamata Banerjee is trying to play with the emotions of people.
A day after West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was allegedly attacked in Nandigram, while on the campaign trail, West Bengal Congress chief Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury spoke to ABP News on Thursday and accused her of ‘siyasi pakhand’ (gimmick) and ‘nautanki’ (theatrics) to gain sympathy from the masses ahead of key assembly polls.
Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said that the Chief Minister herself is making false accusations then imagine what the people of Bengal go through. He also demanded a CCTV probe in the case and asked that where did the security officers vanish? Why was nobody there when the incident happened?
“This is ‘siyasi pakhand’ to gain sympathy. Before polls, she (Mamata Banerjee) planned this ‘nautanki’ (drama) after sensing difficulties in Nandigram,” Chowdhury said. He took a jib on Mamata Banerjee and said that at least CBI or CID should investigate this matter and the CCTV of the accident spot should be probed to know the truth which will prove Mamata's hypocrisy.
When asked about Mamata Banerjee's serious leg injury, he said that all of us have got little hurt even while walking, she is just creating a scene.
“She is not just the Chief Minister, she is the ‘Police Mantri’ too. No one can believe that there was no police with Bengal’s ‘police mantri’. When the police have thrown a security cordon in Nandigram, some youth pushing the chief minister is unbelievable,” Chowdhury claimed on Wednesday as per ANI.
Meanwhile, Congress' Anand Sharma expressed his concern over the incident and wished the chief minister a speedy recovery.
"Concerned over the physical attack on Mamata Banerjee ji and the injuries she has sustained. Hatred and violence are unacceptable in a democracy and must be condemned. Wishing @MamataOfficial a speedy recovery," Sharma tweeted.
BJP has also claimed Mamata Banerjee's alleged as a drama. BJP Leaders met EC officials regarding the incident. TMC Leader Sheikh Suffian filed a an official complaint and police registered a case against 'unknown' under IPC 343 wrongful confinement and IPC 323 assault case.
