'Political Vendetta': Bengal CM Mamata After Chandrababu Naidu's Arrest, Summons To TMC's Abhishek — WATCH

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee stated on Monday that if permission to protest at Rajghat on Mahatma Gandhi's birth anniversary is refused, her party members will pray there.

West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee on Monday slammed the Union government after Enforcement Directorate (ED) summoned Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee in connection with the school recruitment scam and former Andhra Pradesh CM Nara Chandrababu Naidu was arrested in connection with an alleged corruption scam. She termed these actions as "political vendetta" against parties, news agency PTI reported.

"Abhishek Banerjee is being unnecessarily harassed. Likewise, N Chandrababu Naidu was arrested which is not at all appreciable. There should not be vindictiveness, it might boomerang as well," CM Banerjee stated.

Speaking on the debate over 'India' and 'Bharat', CM Banerjee said: "Our Constitution begins with 'We the People of India' in the Preamble. People have been using every name. It seems they (BJP) did it due to the INDIA alliance."

On the protest called by TMC on October 2 to demand that the Centre release the funds for the state, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee stated on Monday that if permission to protest at Rajghat on Mahatma Gandhi's birth anniversary is refused, her party members will pray there.

“Delhi police is not our enemy, but they will not be able to give us permission to protest at Rajghat as that will be a political call... However, we can still go there to pray, that is always permissible,” Banerjee stated.

The TMC has requested permission to hold a large-scale demonstration against the non-payment of NREGA dues to Bengal at three locations in Delhi, including the Rajghat, where Gandhi's ashes are stored.

Senior TDP Leaders Condemn Chandrababu Naidu's Arrest

Senior TDP leaders criticised the arrest of party chairman N Chandrababu Naidu in an alleged multi-crore corruption scheme on Monday, claiming that justice will win in the end. They also visited with Governor S Abdul Nazeer in Visakhapatnam and presented him with a memorandum, news agency PTI reported.

Yanamula Ramakrishnudu, M A Shareef, Kavali Pratibha Bharati, Dhulipalla Narendra, Kanna Lakshminarayana, Pattabhi Ram Kommareddy, and other party officials met in the party office to discuss recent developments.

According to the opposition leaders, the ruling YSRCP administration falsely fabricated all of the corruption accusations against Naidu.

TDP spokesperson Kommareddy Pattabhiram said that the CID report failed to identify Naidu's wrongdoing and lacked proof and testimony in the alleged multi-crore Skill Development Corporation fraud. "The issues mentioned in the CID remand report reveal that Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy has plotted a political conspiracy to send Naidu to jail," Kommareddy informed PTI.

A delegation of top party leaders, led by TDP state president Kinjarapu Atchannaidu, met with Governor Nazeer in Visakhapatnam and presented him with a memorandum, he added.

On Sunday, a local court in Vijayawada placed Naidu in judicial prison for 14 days. The former CM is now being held in the Rajamahendravaram central jail in the East Godavari district.
