Maharashtra Announces 5-Level Unlock Plan; Relaxations In Districts With Positivity Rate Below 5%

The states has decided to lift the lockdown restrictions in districts with less than 5 per cent Covid positivity rate and Oxygen bed occupancy less than 25 per cent.

Maharashtra Unlock: With daily count of Coronavirus case continue to witness declining trend, Uddhav Thackeray-led Maharashtra government on Thursday announced a 5-level unlock plan to ease restrictions in the state which was under lockdown owning to second wave of the deadly virus.

Under the 5-level unlock strategy, government will ease restrictions in districts with low positivity rate and status of occupancy of oxygen beds in the area. The lockdown-like restrictions in Maharashtra will be lifted from June 4 in 18 out of 36 districts. 

Districts with the lowest positivity rate will have no restrictions.

As per the announcement, lockdown can be lifted completely in districts categorised as Level 1 and government has identified 18 such districts inlucding Thane. Mumbai, which gained praises for containing Covid spread in significanly less time, is on Level 2.

Maharashtra Unlock Level 1

The states has decided to lift all lockdown restrictions in districts with less than 5 per cent Covid positivity rate and Oxygen bed occupancy less than 25 per cent from tomorrow i.e. Friday (June 4).

As per the order, restaurants, shopping malls, shops, gyms, salons, beauty parlours and some other activities will be permitted to reopen in districts inlcuding Thane, Aurangabad, Gondia, Jalgaon, Bhandara, Buldhana, Chandrapur, Dhule, Jalna, Nagpur, Wardha, Latur, Nanded, Nashik, Parbhani, Washim and Yavatmal.

Marriage functions and social entertainment would also be allowed in the particular areas.

As Mumbai comes under Level 2 at the moment, local train services will continue to remain suspended. As soon as the financial capital elevates to Level 1, local trains will be allowed to operate.

Maharashtra Covid Tally

Meanwhile, Maharashtra on Wednesday reported 15,169 new COVID-19 cases, taking the tally to 57,76,184, and 285 fresh deaths and also added 268 previously unreported fatalities.

As many as 29,270 patients were discharged from hospitals during the day, pushing the number of recovered cases to 54,60,589, a statement from the health department said
