Maharashtra Corona Lockdown Extended Till June 1, Negative RT-PCR Report Mandatory To Enter State

Maharashtra Corona Lockdown: The state will observe lockdown restrictions till 7 am on June 1. Earlier, the lockdown imposed by the state government under the 'break the chain' initiative was supposed to end on May 15.

Mumbai: Maharashtra government has on Thursday extended Covid-19 lockdown in state till June 1, mandates negative RT-PCR report for those entering the state.

The state will observe lockdown restrictions till 7 am on June 1. Earlier, the lockdown imposed by the state government under the 'break the chain' capaign was supposed to end on May 15.

Meanwhile, carrying a negative RT-PCR report to enter the state through any mode of transportation has been made mandatory.

The state government is satisfied that the state of Maharashtra is continued to be threatened with the spread of the covid-19 virus and therefore it is imperative to continue emergency measures to prevent and contain the spread of virus, the new order reads.

Following are more guidelines listed in the fresh order:

  • Any person entering the state of Maharashtra by any mode of transport will have to carry a negative RT PCR test report which will have to be issued from up to a maximum of 48 hours before the time of his entry into Maharashtra.
  • Al the restrictions that have been made applicable to persons arriving from places of sensitive origins as per the orders dated 18th April and 1st May will be applicable to anyone arriving from any part of the country into the state.
  • In the case of cargo carriers not more than two people driver cleaner helper may be allowed to travel in the same if these cargo carriers are ordered originating from outside the state they may be allowed to enter into the state with the negative RT PCR test which will have to be issued from up to a maximum of 48 hours before the time of entry into Maharashtra and will be valid for 7 days.
  • Milk collection transport and processing may be allowed without restriction do its retail sales will be allowed subject to restrictions imposed on shops dealing with essential items through home delivery.
  • Perrsonell engaged in airport and port services and needed for movement of cargo related to medicines or equipment for Covid management will be allowed to travel in local, mono, and metro services.

Additionally, local DMA has been directed to keep special will vigil over rural markets and APMC and ensure covid appropriate behaviour. If it finds any such places as difficult to manage and discipline to ensure non-spread of Covid epidemic local DMA may decide on a case-by-case basis to shut these or may impose further restrictions, the order states.

Maharashtra on Wednesday reported as many as 46,781 new Covid-19 cases and 816 deaths pushing the total number of cases to 52,26,710 and the death toll to 78,007. The active number of cases in the state was reported to be 5,46,129. The number of daily Covid-19 positive cases in Maharashtra rose above 40,000 to 40,956 on Tuesday.
