Maharashtra Elections: Setback To BJP MLA Pankaja Munde; Trails Behind Cousin Dhananjay In Parli
In the 2014 assembly seats, Pankaja defeated Dhananjay by a margin of around 25,000 votes.
New Delhi: In a major setback to sitting BJP MLA Pankaja Munde, her cousin Dhananjay Panditrao Munde, who is also her political rival, has given a tough fight to her from Parli assembly constituency.
At the time of filing of the report, Pankaja Munde was trailing by over 26,000 votes. Her cousin Dhananjay Panditrao Munde from NCP was ahead with 78,441 votes.
The counting of votes is currently underway for Maharashtra Assembly polls.
Pankaja, is the daughter of former deputy chief minister of Maharashtra, Gopinath Munde.
In the 2014 assembly seats, Pankaja defeated Dhananjay by a margin of around 25,000 votes. Meanwhile, BJP is leading on 102 seats in the state while its ally Shiv Sena is ahead on 62 seats, according to latest Election Commission trends. Congress was ahead in 32 constituencies and its alliance partner NCP is leading on 53 seats, while on 32 seats, other parties, independent candidates were leading. Polling for 288 seats of Maharashtra was held on October 21 in a single phase.
