Maharashtra: CM Eknath Shinde May Resign, Claims Aaditya Thackeray Amid NCP Split

Aaditya Thackeray's prediction on 'government changes' come as reports regarding the discontent in the Shinde camp amid worries of being ignored by the BJP and Pawar's rise surfaces up.

Days after Ajit Pawar launched a 'revolution' in Maharashtra politics with eight other NCP MLAs, and amid speculation over a cabinet reshuffle, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray said on Friday that Eknath Shinde's chief ministerial job may be jeopardised, news agency ANI reported. His estimations on 'government changes' come as reports regarding the discontent in the Shinde camp amid worries of being ignored by the BJP and Pawar's rise surfaces up.

Speaking with media, Aaditya Thackeray said: "I have heard that CM (Eknath Shinde) has been asked to resign and there might be some change (in the govt)."

Shinde, on the other hand, has dismissed a Shiv Sena mutiny over the entrance of NCP leaders and stated that his position is not under threat.

Shinde, a member of the faction that split from the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena last year, remarked that Ajit Pawar's choice to join the government has exonerated them from being dubbed "traitors" and exposed to other harsh statements.

BJP state president Chandrashekhar Bawankule dismissed talk of a new chief minister, saying the opposition was deliberately creating uncertainty and that Shinde will stay CM.

According to a senior Shiv Sena (UBT) leader, roughly 20 MLAs from Eknath Shinde's group have contacted their party following Ajit Pawar's election to the state cabinet. "Since Ajit Pawar and other NCP leaders joined the government, 17-18 MLAs from the Shinde camp have contacted us," said Sanjay Raut.
