Madhya Pradesh Congress MLA Demands 27% OBC Reservation, CM Says, 'This Is Hypocrisy'
MP OBC Reservation: Congress MLAs protested in the Assembly wearing black aprons demanding 27 per cent reservation for OBCs.
MP OBC Reservation: On Tuesday, there was a huge uproar in the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly over OBC reservation. After which the assembly had to be adjourned. Congress MLAs protested in the Assembly by wearing black aprons demanding 27 per cent reservation for OBCs. State Chief Minister Shivraj Chouhan then hit out at the Congress and accused it of showing hypocrisy.
Shivraj Chauhan said- they want to break the society by confusing it. They have betrayed the OBCs and stabbed them in the back. What were they doing for the 27 per cent reservation from March 10 onto March 19, 2019 (when the Madhya Pradesh government filed a petition before the court, which was put on stay.)? The Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister further added- What he did at the moment was to ensure that there was no straying from the court. They closed their eyes and looked the other way as they wanted the stay order themselves.
Congress is showing hypocrisy. They're trying to mislead & break society. They betrayed OBCs & backstabbed them...What did they do for 27% reservation between 10-19 March 2019 (when the then MP govt filed the plea before court which was later stayed)?: MP CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan pic.twitter.com/PcdnBLRzyE

Govt to consider removing 50% reservation limit
Meanwhile, the Congress on Tuesday supported the OBC amendment bill and said the Central government should consider removing the 50 per cent reservation limit so that the Maratha community in Maharashtra and people in many other states could benefit from it. Initiating a discussion on the Constitution (127th Amendment) Bill 2021, party leader in the House Adhir Ranjan Choudhary also alleged that it was due to the mistake of the Central Government that the Bill had to be brought up and it was brought keeping in view the elections in Uttar Pradesh and some other states.
He raised the Pegasus espionage issue and said there would have been no deadlock if the government had agreed to discuss it, though Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said he should speak on the topic. Chaudhary said, "We are participating in the discussion on this Bill because it is the Constitution Amendment Bill which needs a support of two-thirds in majority. We are a responsible party, so we aren't running away from it.''
The Congress leader mentioned the work done for OBCs, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes during their government rule in the past. He said that you (the Minister) have every right to speak about prime minister Narendra Modi's actions. But we want to ask why this Constitutional Amendment came up. Chaudhary said the 102nd Constitution Amendment Bill was introduced in the year 2018. But with the grant of constitutional status to the Backward Classes Commission, the right to set the OBC list of states was taken away. We raised this issue at that time, you can take a look at the records.
