Lok Sabha Election: BJP's Candidate Is 'Kamal Ka Phool', PM Modi Tells Cadre As He Stresses 370 Target

PM Modi highlighted Syama Prasad Mookerjee's legacy and underscored the importance of winning at least 370 seats in the Lok Sabha, symbolizing a true homage to the party's founding principles.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday set the tone for the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) Lok Sabha poll campaign, urging party members to focus on the government's pro-poor initiatives and the nation's development trajectory. PM Modi asserted that winning 370 seats will be a true tribute to its key ideologue Syama Prasad Mookerjee.

Addressing a gathering of BJP's national office-bearers ahead of the party's convention, PM Modi emphasised the significance of securing a resounding victory in the upcoming elections. He said, "Every booth worker should now focus on polling booths and ensure at least 370 more votes for the party at each in the upcoming polls than in 2019", reported news agency PTI.

According to news agency ANI, PM Modi told the party cadre that BJP's candidate for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections was not a face but 'Kamal Ka Phool' (its symbol).

PM Modi took to social media to share insights from his address to the @BJP4India National Office Bearers. In his message, he lauded the relentless dedication of every party worker in their endeavor to serve the people. He posted, "Addressed the BJP4India National Office Bearers. Complimented every Party Karyakarta for their exceptional efforts to serve people. Discussed ways to deepen our Party's grassroots level connect across all sections of society. Over the last decade, BJP has made a mark as a party of development and good governance. Our schemes, initiatives and reforms have transformed several lives."

PM Modi's Tribute to Syama Prasad Mookerjee

PM Modi highlighted Mookerjee's legacy and underscored the importance of winning at least 370 seats in the Lok Sabha, symbolising a true homage to the party's founding principles.

Syama Prasad Mookerjee, a key figure in India's political history, vehemently opposed Article 370, which conferred special status upon Jammu and Kashmir. In August 2019, the Modi government took a historic step by abrogating this article.

Briefing reporters on Modi's speech, BJP General Secretary Vinod Tawde said the prime minister told the meeting that the opposition will raise unnecessary and emotional issues during the polls but party members should stick to the issues of development, pro-poor policies, and the country's rising global standing, as per PTI's report.

Vinod Tawde outlined the party's strategy to engage with beneficiaries of various central government schemes. Starting on February 25, the BJP will launch a concerted outreach campaign to connect with citizens who have directly benefited from these initiatives, the report stated.

"I have has been the head of a government, including more than 12 years as Gujarat chief minister, for nearly 23 years and there has been no allegation of corruption against me .It's been an 'aarop mukt' and a 'vikas yukt' period", PM Modi said in his briefing, noting that there has been no such instance of such a long tenure of anyone not drawing any taint, as per PTI.

The Prime MInister exhorted all party workers to put in the hard days for 100 days to ensure a thumping win for the BJP in the upcoming Lok Sabha Election, Tawde stated, as per ANI.
