CBI Names Bihar Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav, Former CMs Lalu And Rabri Devi In Land-For-Job Case Charge Sheet

According to the CBI, in the period from 2004 to 2009, Lalu Prasad had obtained land in the name of his family members and received pecuniary benefits from jobseekers.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has named Bihar Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav in its latest charge sheet in the land-for-job case. The charge sheet, filed in Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court, includes the names of several individuals and firms as accused. Among the accused named in the CBI charge sheet are former Union Minister of Railways Lalu Prasad Yadav and former Chief Minister of Bihar Rabri Devi.

According to the CBI, during the period from 2004 to 2009, Lalu Prasad had obtained land in the name of his family members and received pecuniary benefits from the candidates in exchange for jobs in Group D posts in various zones of the Railways. The plots were purchased for significantly less than the market rates and the prevailing circle rates at that time. According to the CBI, the candidates were also accused of using fake TCs and submitting fake attested documents to the Ministry of Railways.

Several persons residing in Patna themselves or through their family members had sold their land in Patna in favour of Prasad's family members, and a private company controlled by his family was also involved in the transfer of such immovable properties. It has also been alleged that advertisement or any public notice was not issued for recruitment in Railways. Still, those who were residents of Patna were appointed as substitutes in various Zonal Railways located at Mumbai, Jabalpur, Kolkata, Jaipur and Hajipur.

In March, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) raided the Delhi home of Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav in the land-for-jobs scam. The homes of Lalu Yadav's daughters were also subjected to raids. Later, the Rouse Avenue Court had granted bail to Lalu Yadav, his wife Rabri Devi, their daughter RJD MP Misa Bharti, and 13 others in the land-for-job case.

Last month, Tejashwi Yadav had aired his apprehension about a CBI charge sheet naming him ahead of the July 17 Opposition meet in Bengaluru.
