Kerala Mass Murder: Grief-Stricken Father Of Accused Afan Breaks Down At Graves Of Son, Relatives
Rahim, who arrived in Kerala on Friday morning, was inconsolable as he visited the victims' graves, all buried side by side.

Rahim, a father who returned from Saudi Arabia after seven years, collapsed in grief at the graves of his son and three relatives who were brutally murdered in a shocking family tragedy. His elder son, 23-year-old Afan, is the sole accused in the horrific crime that has left the community shaken.
Afan allegedly used a hammer to kill four members of his family, including his 13-year-old brother, 22-year-old girlfriend, grandmother, and father’s sister and her husband, Lateef, as per a report on IANS. The murders took place at their family home, where his girlfriend was also brought and killed.
Rahim, who arrived in Kerala on Friday morning, was inconsolable as he visited the victims' graves, all buried side by side. He first sought out his younger son's grave, praying through tears, before moving to the other graves. The emotional moment deepened when he embraced his surviving sister, mourning their devastating loss.
Rahim also visited the hospital where his wife, who was injured by Afan during the attack, is undergoing treatment. The family’s grief is compounded by the revelation that Afan’s actions were driven by financial disputes.
Police investigations have revealed that Rahim’s business in Saudi Arabia had failed leading him to borrow heavily from close relatives. Trouble began when these relatives demanded repayment. Afan, reportedly enraged by the pressure to return the money decided to eliminate those who had lent the funds, reported South First.
Regarding the murder of his girlfriend, Afan told police that he did not want to leave her alone, which led him to kill her as well.
Afan, who was arrested on Thursday in connection with the six cases filed against him, is currently recovering at a state-run Medical College hospital after consuming rat poison following the crime. Authorities are also consulting mental health specialists to assess Afan’s mental state.
