Kejriwal, Sisodia's Degrees In Corruption Are Out In Open: BJP On Delhi Court’s Remarks In Liquor Policy Case

BJP has attacked CM Arvind Kejriwal and ex-deputy CM Manish Sisodia after a Delhi court denied bail to the latter in the Delhi excise policy case.

Delhi Liquor Policy Case: The Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) has attacked CM Arvind Kejriwal and his former deputy Manish Sisodia after a Delhi court denied bail to the latter in the Delhi excise policy case. Taking a jibe at Kejriwal's demand to see PM Narendra Modi's degrees, BJP's Shezad Poonawalla said that now Sisodia and Kejriwal's degrees in corruption are out in open.

Poonawala slammed the duo and said that the Delhi court’s statements when it rejected Sisodia’s bail plea were not merely observations but ‘findings’. He asked why the court refused to give relief to Manish Sisodia.

Poonawalla was addressing a media briefing on Sunday when he made these remarks.

Quoting the court’s remarks, Poonawalla said, “Why did the court refuse to give relief to Manish Sisodia, accused in the liquor scam? Manish Sisodia and company have received a bribe of ₹100 crore and this has been verified through the court.”

He added that the court while reviewing the evidence that was presented, said that Manish Sisodia was not honest but the mastermind of this corruption policy.

“It was already decided what decisions each unit of the government, the GoM and the cabinet were going to take. This means that this whole scam was activated after discussing with the highest person of the government beforehand,” Poonawala quoted the court as saying,” he said while quoting court.

He mentioned that the Expert Committee (Dhawan Committee) had suggested that the arena of wholesale must be kept in the government's hands.

Highlighting major findings by the court, he said, “The structure, this committee had proposed, was not followed in any way by AAP. Today, there emerge 3 findings by the Court-

1. Prima facie, a 100 crore bribe has been taken by Manish Sisodia.

2. The liquor scam has not been of an 'individual', rather it's 'institutional'.

3. The investigations are being hampered.”

Shehzad Poonawalla further added, “The commission of liquor contractors was increased from 2 percent to 12 percent, out of which 6 percent had to be returned after kickback, so this is not only a matter of corruption, it is also a matter of extortion.”

“The court said that if this person (Manish Sisodia) is released, then this person himself or any of his accomplices will threaten and threaten the prime witness, hence his bail is being rejected,” he went on to say.
