Kashmiri researcher leaves after 'receiving' threat messages at BITS Pilani
Jaipur: In yet another incident of violence against Kashmiri youth in the country, a 27-year-old Kashmiri researcher at the famous BITS Pilani in Rajasthan left for home after he was extensively ‘threatened’ by some unidentified people days after joining the college.
Sofi had joined as a Junior Research Fellow in pharmacy, science and engineering research board (SERB).

As per a hostel official, Hashim Sofi, who belongs to Bandipora district of Kashmir, complained to the hostel’s Chief Warden that someone had inked the hostel room’s door and his clothes with threat messaging asking him leave.
Threatened by the incident, the scholar immediately left for Kashmir without even informing the college authorities.

As per college authorities, "The student had met the chief warden... Today, we learnt that the research scholar was not in his room and left without informing the project investigator and institute authorities”.
"The institute has taken serious note of the matter and has asked standing committee on student affairs to investigate the matter and submit a report swiftly," media coordinator of the institute, Giridhar Kunkur said.
Following the incident, BITS Pilani administration has ordered a probe.
